About Discover Krakow

A small, native English owned company in Kraków offering private Auschwitz tours, WWII day trips and multi-day journeys built around respect, clarity and calm pacing.

Based in Poland since 2012 · Private hosted experiences

A personal route into Poland's history

I moved to Poland in 2012 for one reason: the history. What began as a personal interest in the Second World War, the Holocaust and Central Europe’s heritage soon became the foundation for an entire life here in Kraków. I spent years travelling to sites, reading survivor accounts, exploring museums and learning the stories that shaped this region.

In those early years I tried to join organised tours, but none of them went deep enough. Most were rushed, crowded or limited to the most basic routes. There was nothing that combined Auschwitz Birkenau, Płaszów, Schindler’s List locations, the Kraków ghetto and the more remote WWII sites in Lower Silesia. So I started planning my own routes, driving to these places, exploring them thoroughly and creating itineraries for friends and family who visited.

Over time those private trips turned into requests from others, and then into something bigger. One small group became two, then ten, and word slowly spread that there was a calmer, more thoughtful way to experience these places, without large buses, without pressure and with someone who genuinely cared about the history.

What Discover Krakow offers today

Today Discover Krakow offers private, native English hosted WWII and heritage experiences for visitors who want more than a standard tour. These are journeys built around respect, clarity, comfort and the freedom to move at your own pace. Whether you are visiting Auschwitz for the first time, tracing the world of Schindler’s List, exploring the former Kraków ghetto or travelling into Lower Silesia to see Project Riese or Stalag Luft III, the aim is the same: to help you understand the story on the ground, calmly and without hurry.

Every itinerary is created with care, every guest is treated personally and every day is structured to be smooth, meaningful and well organised. This is not a large company. It is a small, dedicated operation built from genuine passion for history and years spent exploring these places firsthand.

How we are different from large group tours

Many visitors to Kraków first encounter Auschwitz Birkenau and other sites through large coach tours. Those can work for some people, but Discover Krakow exists for guests who prefer something more personal and considered.

  • Private transport in a car or minibus sized to your group, not a packed coach.
  • Native English host based in Kraków, with clear communication and cultural context.
  • Calm pacing with time to reflect, ask questions and take breaks when needed.
  • Routes that connect multiple locations, such as Auschwitz, Płaszów, Schindler’s Factory and ghetto sites.
  • Flexibility to adjust the day around mobility, energy levels and specific interests.

Who our hosted experiences are for

Guests who travel with us are usually couples, families, small groups of friends or relatives making a once-in-a-lifetime visit. Some have a general interest in history. Others are tracing a family connection or bringing older relatives or teenagers who they want to introduce to these places in a careful way.

If you are looking for a respectful, informative and private way to experience Kraków and its surrounding heritage sites, we are here to host you.
