Auschwitz-Birkenau + Płaszów "Schindler's List" route
A long, in-depth day combining Auschwitz-Birkenau with the former German Nazi camp at Płaszów on the edge of Kraków – the camp depicted in the film Schindler's List.
Overview
We start with the full-day Auschwitz-Birkenau format, leaving Kraków early and spending the main part of the day at the Memorial. On the way back we continue to Płaszów, where the camp once stood across quarries and hillsides on the outskirts of the city.
What to expect
At Płaszów we focus on the modern landscape: memorials, surviving structures, quarry areas and viewpoints that help you visualise the scale of the camp. Although little original camp fabric survives above ground, the terrain and markers allow you to connect what you saw earlier at Auschwitz with the story of Jewish prisoners forced to work and live on this hillside. We also touch on how Steven Spielberg staged Schindler's List to echo this environment.
This is a hosted experience in a private vehicle – not a large coach tour. At memorials and museums you walk independently at your own pace, with a map and suggested route, while we handle timings, entry and logistics.
