Project Riese & Owl Mountains tunnels

A specialist full-day route into the Owl Mountains of Lower Silesia, visiting selected underground complexes from the WWII-era "Project Riese" construction programme.

Overview

We depart early from Kraków or Wrocław and drive into the Owl Mountains region, where you visit one or two of the accessible tunnel complexes (such as Osówka or Rzeczka) with official local guides. Depending on timing, the day can also include a visit to Ksiaz Castle and its wartime tunnels.

What to expect

This route appeals particularly to guests interested in engineering history, unexplained wartime projects and the changing borders of Central Europe. The scenery is also a highlight, with wooded hills, valleys and castle viewpoints.

This is a hosted experience in a private vehicle – not a large coach tour. At memorials and museums you walk independently at your own pace, with a map and suggested route, while we handle timings, entry and logistics.
